I help people reach their financial goals and change their lives for the better. Professionally I work in credit brokerage, but I’ll help you with any area of personal finance.
My story
Even before my final school exams I discovered that finance is my passion. My adventure with finance properly began at the University of Economics, where I studied finance, econometrics and project management. A fascination with the academic world and personal finance led me to doctoral studies, during which I had the chance to conduct research and share knowledge with students as a teaching assistant.
Before I got to know finance professionally, I wanted to become a “money doctor”; I wanted to combine helping others with my passion for finance. That’s how I ended up in the “financial advisory” industry. It quickly turned out, though, that the job wasn’t about advising but about selling unit-linked policies (insurance with a unit-linked investment fund, known in Poland as “UFK”) and other insurance and investment products. That’s how I learned that financial advisory, in the true sense, doesn’t exist in Poland.
After a few years working in other areas, I found my way back to financial intermediation. This time, though, I found something that was right for me: I started helping people get a mortgage. I specialised in mortgages for people investing in flats to rent out. Yet at the back of my mind I still kept that idyllic vision of real, reliable, comprehensive financial advice.
To get to know finance from different angles, I worked a bit in accounting, a bit in financial analysis, saw two banks from the inside and several different financial-intermediation firms. I also spent four years outside Europe: in Colombia, the USA and the Dominican Republic. My CV may look motley and colourful, but my youthful dream keeps pulsing inside me without pause: to be a doctor of finance.
My values and mission
In life I’m guided by questioning the status quo and looking for the best solutions. My mission is to help others reach their financial goals and, in doing so, change their lives for the better. In my work with clients I value honesty and directness. I don’t beat around the bush and I tell it like it is — some people like that, others don’t, but those are my principles: I like it when everything is clear and laid out on the table.
As a born teacher, I like explaining the intricacies of personal finance. Drawing on my knowledge and experience in project management, I help people plan how to get there and, if they need it, support them as they carry out those plans.
My passions
I’m a person of many passions. The biggest are basketball, science fiction and fantasy, history and astronomy.
When it comes to history, I most enjoy prehistoric times (the Neolithic) and the early Middle Ages, especially the Slavs of the 6th–10th centuries and the history of Silesia. On top of that — warriors, knights, dukes and that sort of thing. And, since as a child I was a fan of With Fire and Sword, the 17th century too (my son’s name is Jeremi… wonder why, eh?). In astronomy, the topics that fascinate me most are time dilation, the event horizon and understanding the nature of the universe in general.
I grew up on The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, but my favourite author is Sapkowski (though I prefer Narrenturm to The Witcher); I also rate Ziemiański (and especially Pomnik Cesarzowej Achai). I’d rather rewatch the same cinema hits over and over than watch new releases. I love sitcoms (How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn 99, Scrubs, Friends, etc.) and fantasy series (Game of Thrones, The Witcher).
Of course, personal finance is one of my passions too. It’s fascinating how the homo oeconomicus inside us fights with the ordinary little human being. I dig into the “correct” behaviours in various financial areas and wonder what stands in our way when it comes to putting them into practice. I’m passionate about inflation (and above all about how to use it to our advantage), investing and micro-pensions.
I like to dance (bachata, hip hop, house), and I like exploring cultural differences and geopolitics. Music is a strong presence in my life, from punk, through rock, hip hop and popular music of all kinds, to electronic music. My list of favourite artists runs to several dozen, but if I had to name a few, they’d be Happysad, Pidżama Porno, Morat, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Inna and David Guetta.
My plans
My goal is to build a proper financial advisory firm that will help people achieve their goals in an organised and professional way, without pushy sales. I follow an agile approach to project management (AGILE) and believe the client should always come first. A good product doesn’t need sales targets; it sells itself, because it’s good. That’s why I believe building long-term relationships based on trust and transparency is the key to success in any industry, and especially in finance. My vision is a firm that offers not just expertise, but also empathy and an individual approach to every client.
Right now I’m laying the foundations for this business, which is why I’m glad to help other people solve their financial problems or reach their goals. I’m convinced that the best way to build trust and a reputation is selfless help. I want everyone who uses my services to feel more confident in their financial choices and to know they have the support of a professional who genuinely cares about their good — not a salesperson just waiting for extra points on a sales target.
